  • What is an Asset?
The most basic definition of an asset is that it is any type of resource that is of economic value and is owned or controlled by a country, company or individual. In the case of forex trading, the trades are made on the basis of the value of a particular underlying asset, with profit earned or losses made depending on its value at some point in the future. The main asset classes traded on WealthCapital are stocks, indices, forex, cryptocurrencies and commodities.
  • What does pairs trading mean?
Also referred to as statistical arbitrage, pairs trading is a trading strategy used for forex that involves a trader simultaneously taking a long and short position for two related tradable assets within the same industry. In essence, the trader buys one asset while, at the same time, they sell the other related asset. The idea behind this trading strategy is to play the value of the assets against each other in times of uncertainty, with regard to the direction of the market.

  • What is leverage?
In general terms, leverage is the ability to use a small amount of something to exert control on something much larger. With regard to financial trading, leverage is the concept of using a small amount of capital investment in order to control assets of much larger value. Essentially, you are able to achieve this by “borrowing” from your broker, or in this case, from WealthCapital. For instance, if an asset is said to have 100:1 leverage, it means that each $1 that you put in a trade entitles you to $100 worth of the asset that you get from WealthCapital. This means that if you want to open a trading position worth $100, you only need to pay $1 from your personal trading capital.Although leverage helps you to realise substantial profits for minimum capital outlay, it is important to note that the reverse can also be true. You could potentially lose large amounts of money if you pick a losing position and have to repay the leveraged amount.Leveraged trading is also commonly referred to as trading on margin.
